BHMS - Why We Can't Wait Fund

The Bragg-Harvard-Muhammad Smith – Why We Can’t Wait Fund (BHMS) was established by Mursalata Muhammad, an English Department faculty member at GRCC. The purpose of this fund is to support and encourage civic engagement activities by GRCC students. Awards will be disbursed as follows:

1.Scholarships for students in the GRCC Police Academy:
Students must provide proof of academy acceptance.
Preference will be given to students that have completed the Woodrick Center for Equity and Inclusion Institute for Healing Racism, or other cultural competency experiences.
Awards will be disbursed within the academic year it is awarded, but the recipient can select how it is disbursed.

Scholarships for students enrolled in public service programs:
Students must be enrolled in one of the following programs: Law Enforcement, Education, or Healthcare.
Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at GRCC.
Preference will be given to students that have completed the Woodrick Center for Equity and Inclusion Institute for Healing Racism, or other cultural competency experiences.
Awards will be disbursed within the academic year it is awarded, but the recipient can select how it is disbursed.
Awards are also renewable if the student still meets the criteria. Students must apply each year to be considered for a renewable award.

Scholarships Awards to support student participation on campus cultural competency trainings, workshops, or co-curricular opportunities.
