Jessica Berens Human Resources Professional Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Grand Rapids Community College Human Resources Department Staff in honor of one of their staff members, Jessica Berens, who has contributed significantly to GRCC, and specifically to the Human Resources area. Jessica started her Human Resources career while attending GRCC and GVSU, and working in the Job Placement and Learning Academy Departments. She also worked as a contingency employee in the Human Resources department before getting hired into a benefited position. While employed by GRCC, Jessica has made countless process improvements, valuable business process changes, and has participated in and organized various campus wide groups and student events. Jessica has always possessed a professional, compassionate, and patient demeanor while also being very efficient and effective with the resources she has had available to her at GRCC. Scholarships will be awarded to incoming or current student(s) who intend to work in Human Resources or a related field Recipients must have achieved a minimum of 2.25 GPA in high school or college. The award is renewable and financial need is required to qualify for this scholarship. Students will be asked to write a 300-500 word essay explaining why they deserve to be awarded this scholarship.
