Ms. Ellen James Trailblazer Scholarship

As a founding board member, and the first African American female elected to the Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees, this scholarship was endowed in honor of Ms. Ellen M. James. Ms. James has dedicated her life to ensuring fair and equitable access to higher education in our community. As such, this scholarship was created to support a first-generation student that is a member of the under-represented population, who is also a graduate from a high school in the city of Grand Rapids. The student must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher to qualify for the scholarship. This scholarship is meant for both full-time and part-time students and is renewable for one additional year.
