Creative Writing Scholarship & Display Magazine Writing Award

Creative Writing Scholarships are awarded based on quality of writing and demonstrated interest in the field of creative writing. Accepted writing samples include fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, playwriting, screenwriting, and hybrid or cross-genre forms. Grade point average is not a determining factor in the selection process.

Required Application Materials:

  • A One-Two Page Cover Letter: 12-point type, doubled spaced. Summarize your eligibility for this scholarship. Include your writing history, interests, and goals.
  • A Writing Sample of up to 10 pages: Single-space poetry with one poem per page; double-space fiction, creative nonfiction, or any other prose forms; use standard left-aligned format for playscripts and screenplays.

  1. Attach transcripts for any college you have attended (entering freshman may apply without a transcript)
  2. I understand that I must meet the GPA requirement for each scholarship to which I apply. If my GPA does not meet the minimum GPA requirement when the Fall semester GPA is calculated (after the end of the Fall semester), any GPA-dependent scholarship award and/or scholarship funds applied to my student account will be withdrawn.
