Dr. Phillip Sigal Peace & Justice Memorial

The Sigal Peace and Justice Scholarship recognizes leadership and/or volunteerism in areas of the environment, housing, feeding and caring for the poor and the elderly, racism, multi-culturalism, inter-faith dialogue, international understanding, or other worthy peace and justice causes. Applicants must demonstrate involvement in one (or more) areas and provide documentation from supervisors and/or peace and justice related organizations impacted by your time, efforts, and/or work.

Required Application Materials:

  • An Essay of 500-1000 Words: 12-point type, double spaced. Describe your interest in and efforts on behalf of peace and justice causes and/or organizations. The essay should address the nature of your work and time and efforts given toward completing the work.
  • One to Three Letters of Support: from Supervisors and/or Peace and Justice organizations impacted by your work.
  • GPA Requirement: Minimum overall 2.5 GPA.

  1. Attach transcripts for any college you have attended (entering freshman may apply without a transcript)
  2. I understand that I must meet the GPA requirement for each scholarship to which I apply. If my GPA does not meet the minimum GPA requirement when the Fall semester GPA is calculated (after the end of the Fall semester), any GPA-dependent scholarship award and/or scholarship funds applied to my student account will be withdrawn.
  3. Please upload a Letter of Recommendation from a faculty member.
