The Yeiter Family Scholarship
As a life-long educator in the Lowell school district, Betty taught history, geography and civics. Her teaching career began at the country school south of Alto, Runciman Elementary, and retired from Alto Elementary in 1984. She continues to volunteer at numerous organizations in Lowell and gives back to her community.
As such, Betty established the Yeiter Family Scholarship in honor of the Yeiter family. This endowed scholarship will be awarded to senior(s) of Lowell High School planning to attend Grand Rapids Community college.
The scholarship criteria is a 2.5 GPA or higher, extra-curricular involvement, a strong work ethic and community involvement and/or work experience. The scholarship is renewable as long as the student maintains a 2.5 GPA. The selection of the Yeiter Family Scholarship will be the responsibility of the General Scholarship Selection Committee at Lowell High School, which is made up of Lowell High School administrators, teachers and school counselors.
