Access to ASL, LLC- Interpreter Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to support GRCC students pursuing the American Sign Language (ASL) pathway with the intention of entering an Interpreter Training Program. Applicants must be enrolled at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) in General Studies or a closely related academic program and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicants must demonstrate a clear interest in pursuing an Interpreter Training Program and provide proof of acceptance to Lansing Community College or another accredited Interpreter Training Program upon completion of the courses offered at GRCC. Students will be asked to submit a short essay of 500 words or less describing their interest in ASL and/or interpreting, as well as their future goals. Applicants must also have completed ASL coursework at GRCC—specifically SL150, SL155, SL171, and SL172—with a grade of C or better. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a commitment to accessibility, service, or community engagement.
